This course – the first in a four part series on introductory immunohematology – aims to provide a theoretical overview of RBC antigens as well as a practical overview of test procedures in the blood bank.

This course will focus on the following:

  1. Historical Review of RBC Antigens
  2. Chemical Structure of RBC Antigens
  3. RBC Agglutination
  4. ABO and Rh Typing
  5. Detection of RBC Antibodies

While this lecture should be of particular interest to residents preparing for the clinical pathology boards, we hope that it is broadly useful. The course is estimated to take less than 15 minutes to complete, and may be accessed from either computers or mobile devices.
